Maybe you’re leaving your job to set up on your own. Or perhaps you’re retiring. Whatever your reason for leaving your job, you’ll want to make sure that you have access to private healthcare benefits.
If you’ve been a member of AXA Health through your company’s private medical insurance scheme, or if we’ve administered your company’s healthcare benefit, you already know how reassuring having access to private healthcare benefits can be – especially if you’ve had to use it. You’ll also want to know what happens when you quit your job and leave your employer’s health scheme.
When life throws you an unexpected challenge, fast access to diagnosis and treatment are what matter most, along with genuine help, support and understanding from people who care.
The earlier you get medical help, the sooner you can start feeling like yourself again. With Personal Health cover you’re seen and treated quickly when you’re ill. You’re treated in a private hospital, or the private wing of an NHS hospital. And you have your treatment in comfort – usually your own room, an en-suite bathroom, and flexible visiting hours.
Like your company healthcare scheme, we can’t cover everything. For example, out-patient drugs aren’t covered on this plan and we may have to limit what you’re covered for depending on your health when you join us.
So if you've been covered on a healthcare scheme provided by your employer, you (and any family member also covered on the scheme) could qualify for a personal health insurance plan with the option to continue without further medical underwriting. This means you could be covered for previous and existing medical conditions, as long as your new health insurance plan with us covers these.
To put it another way, for a limited time you can choose healthcare cover with no change to the way we treat your medical history on your company scheme. So if you’ve made a claim on the company scheme with us, we could still cover you for ongoing treatment of that condition on your own personal plan. This is a type of underwriting called ‘continuing medical exclusions’ or ‘CME’. This can be especially reassuring if you’re about to start retirement.
Personal plans include similar core cover to most healthcare schemes with a choice of other cover options available. Some of the benefits on your healthcare scheme, including our online Neurodiversity Assessment and Support Service, may only be available to members on a large corporate healthcare scheme. Our highly trained sales agents will explain the different cover options available to you when you call.
If there’s something you’re particularly concerned about, we’ll be happy to talk you through it to put your mind at rest. We can only offer the CME underwriting option for a limited time.
Taking out personal health cover with us is quick and easy. You won’t need to fill in any forms or have any kind of medical examination when you join – we’ll arrange everything over the phone.
Our personal health insurance plans have a number of options including optical, dental and travel benefits. Remember that the cover offered depends on the plan you choose and the underwriting terms.
Don’t miss out - stay covered for previous and existing medical conditions when you leave your company health scheme.
