Private GP option
When you have a health concern it’s natural to want to see a GP as soon as possible. But these days it can be hard to get a face-to-face appointment that fits in with the busy lives we lead. And if an appointment falls in the middle of the working day, everything else is affected.
With the Private GP option, you and your employees will benefit from fast access to in-person doctor’s appointments, including same-day, evening or weekend slots where available, reducing the impact of absences on the day to day profitability of your business. And helping to put everyone’s mind at ease.
Plus, access to our 24/7 online GP service, AXA Doctor at Hand (powered by Doctor Care Anywhere), is included as standard with all of our cover options. This gives you and your team access to online GP appointments (for up to 20 minutes) 24/7, 365 days a year. Appointments are subject to availability. Advanced Nurse Practitioners available 8am-10pm.
A private GP service that’s fit for the working day

Extending the benefit of fast GP access to everyone
Ben is the founder of an accountancy firm based in London. He has a team of three people who all commute into the city from the surrounding counties. He regularly overhears his team talking about how they struggle to get a GP appointment at their local practices – one that fits in with their schedules and doesn’t need them to work from home for the rest of the day.
Ben visits a private GP practice around the corner from the office and pays for his appointments each time. He chooses to do this because it’s more convenient: the practice has appointments after work for a start. Ben chose to extend this benefit to his team through the Private GP option so that everyone can see a doctor at a time and place that suits them, without having too much of an impact on their day – and his business.
What this option will pay for
- Visits to a private GP: we’ll pay the fees for up to £500-worth of visits a year, per person named on your plan.

- 24/7 access to a private GP - Access to our 24/7 phone and video GP service, AXA Doctor at Hand (powered by Doctor Care Anywhere). Appointments are subject to availability. Advanced Nurse Practitioners available 8am-10pm.
- Muscle, bone and joint support - You and your team aged 18 and over get access to a physiotherapist over the phone, or online without the need for a GP referral.
- Health information phone line - Our helpline is open 24/7 for health information and support from nurses and counsellors. Midwives and pharmacists are available from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, until 4pm on Saturday, and until 12pm on Sunday.
- Heart and cancer support - Get support from our experienced health practitioners, who can support you and your family when living with heart and cancer conditions.
- Gym discounts - In addition to your healthcare cover, you can get Up to 40% off monthly Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing centre membership and Hussle Monthly+ pass fees** for you and your employees. Which means your team can find their motivation, whether they’re training for a marathon or just getting started.**
