Understanding, supporting and embracing neurodiversity in the workplace
Neurodiversity refers to the different ways people’s brains think or interpret information and it's thought that one in seven people in the UK are neurodivergent.1
With often long waiting times for assessments2, many people may lack the support needed to leverage their strengths and manage challenges.
Together with ProblemShared, a leading online mind-health provider, we’ve developed our Neurodiversity Assessment and Support service. When included in your scheme, it offers your employees and eligible family members (aged seven and over), timely access to initial needs assessments and, where appropriate, assessment and expert early guidance for:
- autism
- attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- dyslexia
- dyscalculia.
How it works

A timely initial needs assessment
Following a GP referral, your employees and their eligible family members can contact us to arrange a 45-minute video consultation with an expert practitioner to discuss their challenges, answer questions and map out a potential care plan.

Assessments and diagnosis
After completing the pre-assessment questionnaires, employees will undergo their online video-call assessment or assessments, one for each potenial condition, via ProblemShared’s secure platform.

Prompt feedback and detailed reports
Feedback following the assessment is often provided the same day, with a comprehensive report sent out to them within four weeks.

Post-assessment support
Our service includes early post-assessment support for autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. These might include group sessions for ADHD or autism, medication reviews for ADHD, or sessions with an education expert who can help members understand how to access local support for their education.

Support beyond assessment
While assessments provide valuable understanding of an individual's needs and strengths, support beyond assessments can help to ensure that this knowledge leads to practical improvements in daily life, wellbeing and inclusion. The following early guidance and support may be recommended:
Group sessions for ADHD and autism
These sessions explore what it means to be neurodivergent. Practitioners will talk about the unique strengths that people with these conditions can have and discuss strategies for overcoming possible challenges.
Navigating educational support
Members, or their eligible family members, can be referred to ProblemShared’s education navigator service if they’ve been diagnosed with ADHD, autism, dyslexia or dyscalculia. The team will research their school and/or local authority to find out what support is available, then share recommendations.
Medication review for ADHD
ProblemShared perscribing clinicians will work closely with the employee
or eligible family member to help them make an informed decision and find the best treatment plan. They’ll follow up with review sessions to monitor progress and amend dosage levels if necessary.
This service covers medication reviews and support, but medication costs are payable. After the initial ADHD medication support, a shared care agreement request will be made to their GP to continue the support moving forwards. Alternatively, your employees can self-pay via ProblemShared to receive ongoing medication reviews.
