When you have a health concern it’s natural to want to see a GP as soon as possible. But these days it can be hard to get a face-to-face appointment that fits in with the busy lives we lead. And if an appointment falls in the middle of the working day, everything else is affected.
When you include our Private GP option on your business health insurance plan, you and your employees can benefit from fast access to in-person doctor’s appointments, including same-day, evening or weekend slots where available, reducing the impact of absences on the day-to-day profitability of your business. And helping to put everyone’s mind at ease.
Plus, access to our 24/7 online GP service, AXA Doctor at Hand (powered by Doctor Care Anywhere), is included as standard with all of our cover options. This gives you and your team access to online GP appointments 24/7, 365 days a year. Appointments are subject to availability. Other registered clinical practitioners are available 8am-10pm.

Fast, face-to-face GP access
Ben is the founder of an accountancy firm based in London. He has a team of three people who all commute into the city from the surrounding counties. He regularly overhears his team talking about how they struggle to get a GP appointment at their local practices – one that fits in with their schedules and doesn’t need them to work from home for the rest of the day.
Ben visits a private GP practice around the corner from his office, pays for his appointment and claims this back using his Private GP option. He chooses to do this because it’s more convenient: the practice has appointments after work for a start. Ben chose to extend this benefit to his team through the Private GP option so that everyone can see a doctor at a time and place that suits them, without having too much of an impact on their day – and his business.
What this option will pay for
- Visits to a private GP: we'll reimburse up to £500 a year, per person named on your plan, for visits to a private GP for consultations.

24/7 online GP service
Access to video or phone appointments with a GP or another registered clinical practitioner, where your employees will have plenty of time to talk through their health concerns. AXA Doctor at Hand is powered by Doctor Care Anywhere. Appointments are subject to availability. GPs are available 24/7 and other registered clinical practitioners are available 8am – 10pm.
Care for cancer and heart conditions
Our experienced healthcare professionals are available at the end of the phone day or night. Speak to our specialist cancer and heart nurses 9am-5pm Monday – Friday. Outside these hours our experienced nurses and counsellors provide round the clock support by phone.
Specialist appointment booking service
We can help your employees find an appropriate specialist. You'll need to include either an Outpatient option or our Diagnostics Only option with your business healthcare plan for the consultation to be covered.
Easing the pressure with physio
Access to our online muscles, bone and joint service to help your people manage or alleviate joint and muscle pain – whether it’s a bad back or sprained ankle. A physiotherapist will assess their symptoms online or over the phone and talk to them about what they could mean. Available for members aged 18 and over.
Health information and support
We’ll give your employees access to our 24/7 health support line. It comes as standard, no matter what cover options you choose, so your team can get help and support whether it's day or night.
The 24/7 health support line is not a diagnostic or advice service and it cannot respond to emergencies. If you require an urgent response or have a medical emergency please call 111/999 or attend A&E.
