Travel Cover option

Medical problems and emergencies can be incredibly worrying – and expensive – particularly if they happen when you’re abroad. With our business travel insurance , you and your team can travel for business or leisure knowing you’ll get the treatment you need if you fall ill or get caught up in an accident. Two levels of travel cover are available - European or Worldwide. We’ve packed in a range of travel-related benefits, too, and family members are insured as well – even if they travel solo.

In order to use this option, you must be medically fit to travel otherwise you may not be covered.

Peace of mind on the road

  • Know that you and your team are covered for emergency medical treatment if the worst happens when you’re travelling abroad.
  • Enjoy peace of mind with access to our 24-hour international emergency medical assistance and travel information helpline.
  • Travel abroad for up to 65 days in one stretch, for business or leisure, up to 180 days in one year (Worldwide cover).
  • Benefit from cover on UK trips with two days or more pre-booked accommodation.
  • No need for you or your employees to provide a medical history, so most pre-existing medical conditions you or your employees have will be covered abroad if your GP says you’re fit to fly.

When it’s the wrong sort of break

David is co-founder of a digital agency based in London. A few of his clients are based in the US, so David and his team of 15 regularly travel over there for meetings. Recently, on a business break to New York, one of David’s account managers, Sarah, had a nasty fall and broke her ankle. David had the Worldwide Travel Cover option on their small business insurance, so Sarah was treated swiftly without the worry of a large treatment bill coming her way. 

As David is a keen skier, he often takes to the slopes when he’s abroad, so it helps that he’s insured for on-piste winter skiing, too. (Sarah doesn’t join him.) 

What this option will pay for

  • Pre-existing conditions: cover for treatment and assistance abroad with most of these (cover restrictions apply in the case of pre-existing psychiatric illness and terminal illness).
  • Skiing and adventure sports: cover for up to 17 days spent away in a winter sports resort during the period of your insurance.
  • Cover for employees and family members: aged up to 85.
  • Business or leisure travel: it doesn’t matter if your employees are travelling for work or in their own time.

  • Doctor@Hand - Unlimited access to our 24/7 online GP service, Doctor@Hand (provided by Doctor Care Anywhere). Appointments are subject to availability. Fair usage policy applies.
  • Working Body - Our Working Body service gives you and your team aged 18 and over access to a physiotherapist over the phone, without the need for a GP referral.
  • Health at Hand - our telephone helpline is open 24/7 for health information and support from nurses and counsellors. Midwives and pharmacists are available from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, until 4pm on Saturday, and until 12pm on Sunday.
  • Heart and cancer nurses - available by phone, who are experienced in supporting you and your family when living with these conditions.
  • Proactive Health Gateway - our online platform giving you and your team access to wellbeing support that's tailored to their individual goals. They can use the AXA Health Age calculator to find out their 'Health Age' and follow in-depth guidance and make suggested changes to get healthier.
  • Healthy rewards - including discounts across products at ActivePlus, our online health store.
