At AXA Health we’ve imagined it all. It’s why we’ve developed our AXA Doctor at Hand service, powered by Doctor Care Anywhere.
- With AXA Doctor at Hand, appointments are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year
- Appointments are usually available on the same day, often within a few hours
- GPs are available 24/7 and Advanced Nurse Practitioners are availble from 8am-10pm.
- Say goodbye to rushed appointments – each one is up to 20 minutes long, giving your employees plenty of time to talk about their health concerns.
- Just book online or use the app.
- GPs and Advanced Nurse Practitioners can refer to a specialist or some diagnostics tests if that’s what’s needed (subject to the cover options you include with your plan).
- If you need a prescription, you can choose to have it delivered to a local chemist or straight to your door.
We know how important it is for you and your people to be able to manage your health, so AXA Doctor at Hand is included regardless of the cover options that you choose. If you want the same freedom and flexibility with your face-to-face GP appointments, we’ve thought of that too – just select our Private GP option.
How it works
Convenient video or phone appointments
Once you’ve activated your AXA Doctor at Hand account you can just book an appointment online or through the app and you and your employees could be talking to a doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner within hours. You’ll have up to 20 minutes to chat by video or phone from wherever’s convenient for you.
24/7 GP access
You and your team can talk to a GP 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year (subject to availability). Everyone can now fit appointments around their work. Advanced Nurse Pracitioners are available 8am -10pm.
Everything from diagnosis to referrals
All their GPs and Advanced Nurse Practitioners are experienced and registered with the General Medical Council or the Nursing and Midwifery Council. They’ll be able to discuss any problems you or your employees have and recommend treatment. They can also make referrals to private specialists, and may be able to refer to diagnostic tests for some conditions.*

Your employees will love the freedom and convenience of this service. It’s been built around helping them and any members of their family they include on their policy to stay fit and well, in and outside of work.
Everything your team needs
Everything you and your team need is in one place, from booking your appointment and seeing a healthcare professional when it suits you, to having a specialist referral or diagnostic test referral sent straight to our appointments booking team. A copy of your appointment notes is uploaded directly to your patient record and, with your permission, Doctor Care Anywhere can share information with your regular GP, so they're updated after each appointment.
Convenient prescription service
If you need a prescription, you can have this delivered to your door or the nearest pharmacy, whichever is the most convenient. Prescriptions are available in most circumstances and in the UK only. The costs for prescriptions and deliveries is not covered by the plan and may cost more than on the NHS.
*Important information about referrals:
Diagnostic tests: Available subject to an Outpatient option or the Diagnostics Only option being included on your plan. Any outpatient limits or excess would apply. Where clinically and geographically appropriate (centres in England, Scotland and Wales). Dependants must be aged 18 or over for the clinician to organise diagnostics.
Specialist consultations: All referrals and treatment recommended are on a private basis. The GPs and Advanced Nurse Practitioners are unable to refer to the NHS. So you would need to include an Outpatient option or the Diagnostics Only option on your plan for the referral to be covered. Any outpatient limits or excess would apply.

Today, we need our health to fit around our busy lives, not the other way around. That’s why we’ve also made it easy for you and your employees to see a private GP in person promptly when you or one of your team members becomes ill, at a time that’s convenient for you – and your business.
