With AXA Doctor at Hand, appointments by video or phone are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. GPs are available 24/7.1

How AXA Doctor at Hand works
Appointments anytime
Booking is easy. Just go online or use the AXA Doctor at Hand app. Appointments are usually available within a day. There's no waiting for the surgery to open. And there's no hanging on the phone for an appointment.1
Hand-picked GPs and Advanced Clinical Practitioners
Video or phone appointments are with fully qualified, experienced healthcare professionals, hand-picked by Doctor Care Anywhere. You can choose the person you want to see and get to know them, just like at your local practice.
Prescriptions made easy
If the clinician thinks a prescription could help, it will be uploaded to your account straight after your appointment. AXA Doctor at Hand can organise prescriptions to be delivered straight to your home, office, or a local chemist if it’s easier. Prescriptions are only available in the UK.2
Fast, connected healthcare
As part of your healthcare cover with AXA Health, if you need to be referred to a specialist the GP or Advanced Clinical Practitioner will email your referral letter directly to our Specialist Appointment booking team. We’ll check your benefits to make sure that you have the right cover in place for onward treatment to be paid for. Once confirmed we can book an appointment for you or give you a choice of up to three specialists to get in touch with when you’re ready.3
Medical records at a touch
Your secure patient record lets you track and download your notes, scans and test results. Your medical notes and scans can also be sent securely to your NHS GP, to make sure everyone’s in the loop.

The security and confidentiality of your AXA Doctor at Hand consultation is an absolute priority for AXA Health and Doctor Care Anywhere (DCA). Here’s how your private information is kept safe:
- Your consultation is completely confidential and bound by the levels of patient confidentiality you’d expect with medical appointments
- The website and app use the latest security technologies to keep your information secure
- Regular testing of the advanced encryption systems ensures there are no weaknesses in the platform and no unauthorised parties can access confidential data
- DCA work with the authorities who oversee information governance in the NHS to ensure the platform meets NHS standards
- Voice and video data is fully encrypted
- Consultations are recorded and stored securely as part of your patient record, to ensure the DCA service is delivered safely and as a record of the conversation

1 Availability – Subject to appointment availability.
2 Prescriptions – Available in most circumstances. Outpatient prescriptions and delivery are not covered by the scheme and may cost more than on the NHS. Prescriptions are only available in the UK.
3 Referrals to specialists – Any outpatient limits or contributions you normally make towards treatment will apply. All referrals and treatment recommended are on a private basis. The GPs and Advanced Clinical Practitioners are unable to refer to the NHS. Outpatient drugs and dressings are not covered by the plan.
