Boosting wellbeing and employee assistance services to improve access to workforce support

24 April 2025

We’re evolving our wellbeing services including an enhanced Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) allowing employers to provide whole of workforce support. Centred around prevention, the move brings together an extensive range of services supporting mind, body and life’s challenges, making them more accessible and personalised for employees.

The new and enhanced range of services offer more support for employees, empowering them to better understand their health and take proactive steps towards positive action. Ranging from seminars to workshops, health assessments to wellbeing coaching, employee assistance to crisis management, the expanded portfolio connects employees to both digital and in-person support.

Support for employees wherever they are

Key to removing the barriers and driving health engagement is an enriched AXA Health app and website. These platforms are available to AXA Health corporate EAP and wellbeing programme clients, with the corporate AXA Health app updated for private medical and health trust clients. Employees can access articles, videos, online workouts for mind and body, and a health score assessment to guide them to better health. Employers choosing from the range of additional services will benefit from enhanced booking and digital supported journeys from one access point. The wide and varied range of tailored online and offline support includes:

  • Seminars and workshops to support health understanding and inspire healthy behaviours
  • Health assessments to guide individuals around personal goals and wellbeing measures – with integrated remote tests supporting today’s hybrid workforce
  • Health and mental wellbeing coaching to provide positive motivation and guidance to create lasting change
  • A fully integrated Employee Assistance Programme, with 24/7 EAP helpline, in-the-moment support and clinician best fit matching

Innovative and personalised

A key feature of our EAP is a more personal experience. Through best-fit clinician matching, based on clinical need, employee preferences and clinical specialism they’ll be offered support aimed at improving health outcomes. The integrated EAP is available on the same online platform, ensuring easy digital access and early intervention support.

AXA Health is leading on digital innovation, working with Spectrum.Life to power innovation across these services. The enhancements support organisations looking to provide a well-rounded wellbeing strategy, with a greater focus on prevention before the need for treatment. Its Health Score assessment helps build an aggregated view of the health across a workforce, aiding organisations to determine their future needs and appropriate interventions, available too via the AXA Health app from June.

Heather Smith, CEO, AXA Health said:

“We know that a well-rounded wellbeing strategy is essential for developing a resilient, high-performing and successful organisation. Working hand-in-hand with our clients, our enhanced wellbeing and EAP services are designed to proactively manage business health risks, support employees through every life stage, and build a healthier, more inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, recognised and empowered to thrive.

“We’re excited to extend our capability to innovate market leading, customer-first, digitally enabled solutions that include features exclusively available through us. The new service places increased emphasis on the proactive steps employees can take to better understand and manage their wellbeing. Our digital-first approach makes it easy to do this, by providing services in one place, which can be accessed anytime, anywhere with onward in person and online support available when needed.”

Spectrum.Life, provider of these services, will enable AXA Health to be agile and respond to changes in market demand, as well as continue to deliver customer-focused innovation and propositions.

Stephen Costello, CEO and Co-founder of Spectrum.Life, said:

“As a second-generation digital health provider, we’re all about using innovation, clinical expertise, and smart technology to transform healthcare. Our alliance with AXA Health marks a significant milestone in our mission to transform health and overall wellbeing. Together, we’re focused on providing long-term solutions that help individuals to take control of their health.”

Heather Smith added:

“It’s concerning that £26 billion was lost to the UK economy as a result of sick days last year1. It’s more important than ever to support organisations in achieving their health and wellbeing objectives, keeping their workforce healthy and flourishing, and delivering clinical excellence and care when it matters most.”
