Edward Durrant

I'm a musculoskeletal physiotherapist with experience across a range of healthcare settings, including the NHS, private practice, and now private medical with AXA Health. My early career included experience in acute inpatient settings before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

My role at AXA Health has evolved since I joined, initially working in MSK triage and more recently progressing into case management, where I support members with more complex presentations and help them navigate the most appropriate pathway for their care.

I'm currently undertaking a development programme to progress from physiotherapist to advanced practitioner. As part of this, I've recently completed a postgraduate diploma in MSK Medicine with the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (FSEM), as well as an IR(ME)R course to support my ability to refer for diagnostic imaging. I'm also currently working towards a further postgraduate diploma.

I have a strong interest in research and evidence-based practice and have contributed to a systematic literature review that was subsequently published. My particular clinical interests include tendinopathies and rheumatological conditions that can present in a way that initially appears musculoskeletal.

Outside of my clinical role, I enjoy staying active, particularly through resistance training in the gym and playing padel. More recently, I have returned to swimming, which has given me a new avenue for setting and working towards personal goals.

Taking part in a variety of activities myself gives me a useful perspective when helping members set realistic goals during their rehabilitation.

Outside of fitness, I enjoy riding my motorcycle and spending time outdoors, particularly capturing wildlife with my camera.
