"I severely injured my leg while at a trampoline park with my four-year-old granddaughter. I was bouncing quite high when she ran off. I heard her cry out (she was alright) but my focus went, causing me to land badly.

Luckily A&E was nearby, my daughter met me there. She was told by the surgeon that my leg might need to be amputated as I had no feeling in my lower leg. Thankfully my surgery through the NHS was a success, and I was able to keep my leg.

I won’t lie, the weeks and months that followed were hard. But it was great to be able to use my AXA Health insurance for support with my recovery. I used it for my physiotherapy sessions (which included cycling in a pool!).

I’m a very determined person and made the most of each physio appointment. I decided to play tennis again and even managed to climb Ben Nevis with my family (5 hours in the wind and rain!)"
