At AXA Health insurance, we help you access the healthcare you need, quickly.
But more than that, we listen, we support, we care.

Dad: What happened next?

Child: The dragon breathed fire!

Protagonist: That is quite a dragon!
Protagonist: You all right?

Colleague: Yeah, I just want this to go well

Protagonist: You're going to be great!

Protagonist: How was your weekend?

Elderly mother: It was OK. Just a bit quiet in the house these days.

Protagonist: I know, Mum.

AXA employee: Hello, AXA Health.

Protagonist: Hi, yeah I just wanted to talk to you about something that has been bothering me.

AXA employee: Of course, take your time

Protagonist: Yes so…

AXA VO: Our support line nurses and  counsellors are ready to listen, day or night.

Sues Story

Without good health, I can’t live my life and do what makes me happy.

By using her AXA Health membership, we helped sheep farmer Sue get back to good health after both a shoulder injury and a cancer diagnosis. Find out why she feels like a new woman at 76, as she opens the gates to her family farm in the Welsh countryside.

Chapter 1: Introducing Sue’s Story
The farm's been in the family for about five generations, so it's my turn now. (birds chirping) (cow mooing)
I'm Sue and I'm a sheep farmer from South Wales. I'm 76 and I don't feel my age at all.
In fact, I feel younger now than I did at 58 when I retired and became the sheep farmer. It is a bit daunting.
There's a lot of physical work, carting bales around and things like that. Lambing's hard work. But at the end of lambing,
you've got 200 odd lambs running around the fields. It's so enjoyable and fulfilling. It's not hard work if you really enjoy it, is it?
Not bad. (cow mooing) - Let little one have something. Being healthy is the most important thing, especially if you're farming,

Chapter 2: Sue’s experience with cancer and seeking help from AXA Health
you need your health. At 76, ageing is really very important to me. It's important that I keep active,
and I've been very lucky with my life as well, but you never know what's around the corner, do you?
In 2020, I had a small lump on my breasts, which was diagnosed as breast cancer.
That was a really thought-provoking thing to happen.
But what was really good was from the time that I found the lump to the time that I got the radiotherapy over with was only a matter of weeks.
When I rung AXA Health Insurance, I literally was seen within two days. Felt the lump on the Friday,
went straight into hospital Monday and they operated on Wednesday,
so I didn't have to go through a prolonged time living with cancer. And five years on now, all the results have been fine.
It's a wonderful feeling. And then sometime round 2022-23,

Chapter 3: How AXA Health helped Sue overcome a shoulder injury
I had a bit of an accident getting the boat in off the water and pulling the ligaments in my shoulder.
The pain was quite intolerable really because it keeps you awake and it's just a dull ache all the time.
So again, I rang AXA Health Insurance and saw the consultant on a, I think it was a Wednesday this time,
and he operated the following week. Went in, had the operation. I was only in overnight, I was out the next morning.
Reverse shoulder replacement, absolutely brilliant. Then straight onto physio,
and it's the physio as well that's really important because if you don't do the right exercises, you don't get your shoulder back,
and my shoulder now is completely mobile, perfect. It's better than the other one.

Chapter 4: The importance of Sue’s health to her love of farming
Not being able to do the things around the farm would be very difficult for long periods.
And so by having AXA Health Insurance, you can get seen to straight away.
Both times, it was just a matter of weeks rather than months even before I was back on my feet and carrying on as normal.
The speed of being able to be seen, operated on, and the aftercare as well is really, really important.
Being able to be pain-free, and at my age as well, I wouldn't be without it. Farmers never retire.
They hang up their boots sometimes, but it's not for long.
They get a breath of fresh air inside their lungs again and they're off. Yeah. No, you don't really retire as a farmer if you're lucky.

Nurse Mandy

Find out how nurse Mandy supports our members as part of our Cancer Care Team.

You've supported me right from the start. It meant the world to me then, and it still does now. Without you,
my experience with cancer would have been so much different. Thank you doesn't really say enough.
The compassion,
kindness and professionalism you've shown while I was going through treatment has been exceptional.
Your dedication has made such a difference to my journey.
I don't know what I'd have done without you.
You were a listening ear and gave me reassurance when I was at my lowest. I felt less alone,
knowing I could reach out to you with whatever was on my mind.
I truly appreciate everything you've done for me. When things got tough,
you were a phone call away and you made things less daunting for me and my family. I'll be forever grateful. You gave me peace of mind,
practical support and a reason to feel hopeful when I felt anything but.
Thank you for everything you did to make my journey easier. If you've got cancer,
you need more than just treatment. You need real support from real people. People just like you. To reassure you.
Raise your spirits. Calm your fears.
People like Mandy and all the other members of our clinically trained cancer care team who know how much a cancer diagnosis affects lives
