"My husband and I have been members with AXA Health for over a decade and have only had cause to use our policy once or twice in that time.

This has been one of the most challenging years (2025) we have ever experienced. I had a cancer scare back in April, which thankfully turned out to be negative. But soon after, my husband had a very short illness and died unexpectedly in July. It was devastating.

I put my own health on the back burner while all of this was going on. While I’d had a negative cancer result, I was still experiencing symptoms that were impacting my life. By September my friends and family were saying to me I shouldn’t put my own health at risk and should really get my symptoms investigated further.

I could feel my husband on my shoulder telling me to make contact with AXA Health, which I did.

I was immediately struck by the care and compassion on the end of the phone. We checked my policy to make sure I was covered for everything I needed. Within a relatively short call, I had a claim authorisation code and could go ahead and speak with the consultant I wanted to look after me.

I felt genuinely supported and cared for.

In the middle of October, I had the full open hysterectomy I needed. The medical team and all the medical staff within the private hospital I went to were totally amazing. So were all the team that I spoke to over the phone within AXA Health. Everyone was very gentle and supportive and just what I needed.

My recovery is going well. I feel relieved my operation has been done, and I’m nearly at the end of this very challenging year.

I’m looking forward to building up my fitness and strength. Now more than ever, I realise just how fragile our health can be. Next year I can get back to all the things that my husband and I loved doing together. Only this time, I’ll be doing it for both of us.

AXA Health will be the last thing I ever give up. For me, I feel it’s important to have the support I need, when I need it."
