What a good move that turned out to be. The specialist was dedicated and thorough, and not only identified a severely burnt oesophagus, but that a hiatus hernia operation I’d had in the past hadn’t worked. This was causing acid reflux, which was the reason for my burnt oesophagus. It was also making it inflamed – ‘oesophagitis’ – causing chest pain.
While it was a lot to hear at the time – I appreciated that I could use my AXA Health membership to see a specialist who was so thorough and took the time to explain my diagnosis and next steps. Even to the point of drawing me diagrams!
