How can you build our cover around your business?
No two small businesses are the same. But if there’s one thing all business owners share, it’s that you’ve had to adapt to extraordinary challenges over the last few years. You know how vital it is to be flexible – and so do we. That’s why you can tailor your small business healthcare plan to fit the specific needs of your company.
We offer two different plans - Business Health and Business Protect. Our Business Protect healthcare plans have a smaller list of hospitals and specialists than our Business Health healthcare plans, often meaning you'll pay less.
Here’s how you start to shape your plan:
Step 1
Choose the cover options that are right for your business and consider whether you would like the larger hospital and specialist list with our Business Health product or the smaller list with our Business Protect product.
Step 2
Decide who to cover and how you’d like to handle existing conditions.
Step 3
Only pay for the cover you want.*
*If you are buying cover for 1-2 people only, you will need to include either the Treatment Option or the Diagnostics Only Option in your plan. For more information about our cover, any cover limitations and what we don't cover please see our product brochure.
What benefits are included as standard?

We offer two different plans - Business Health and Business Protect. Our Business Protect healthcare plans are great if you're looking to pay less - the main difference being that you and your employees will have access to less hospitals and specialists than you would with our Business Health healthcare plans. Our brochure tells you everything you need to know about our small business health insuracne plans, so you can choose the right plan for your business.
Are existing conditions covered?
Underwriting allows you to decide how you'll cover team members for any conditions they might have before joining us. The underwriting option that you choose can affect the cost of your healthcare cover. The underwriting options available are:
- Fully underwritten - This option requires you and your employees to declare your medical history when you join. Any pre-existing medical conditions (including undiagnosed symptoms) that you or your team have, may be excluded from cover.
- Moratorium - With moratorium underwriting, you won't have cover for treatment of medical problems you had in the five years before you joined us, until:
‐ you've been a member for two years in a row, and
‐ you've had a period of 12 consecutive months since you joined that have been trouble-free from that condition. What does this 'trouble-free' mean?
It means that for your medical condition you haven't:
- had a medical opinion from a medical practitioner, including a GP or a specialist
- taken medication (including over the counter drugs)
- had medical treatment, or
- visited a clinical practitioner, therapist, homeopath, acupuncturist, optician or dentist.
- Continued medical exclusions - If you're joining us from another private health insurance provider, you could continue any underwriting arrangements that you had with your previous provider across to your new plan. The rules and benefits of your new plan with AXA Health will apply.
- Medical history disregarded - This underwriting option means that we could cover you and your team for pre-existing medical conditions, subject to your membership terms. This option is available if you're looking to cover 15 employees or more. With this option, we don't ask for medical history declarations from you and your team. Pre-existing conditions are accepted subject to the rules and benefits of the plan.

- Fees if you choose to use a hospital that is not in your plan's hospital list.
