28 December 2023

This smoothie is a great alternative to coffee for those looking to cut down on their caffeine intake, but still need a boost in the morning!

Nutritional highlights

Almond milk in the UK is typically added with extra vitamins and minerals. One of which is vitamin E, with this recipe giving us over half our daily required amount. This is needed to help keep our immune system running at its best.

A mineral that also typically gets added to almond milk is calcium which is very important for our bone health and for muscle contractions.

  • 6 ice cubes
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground flax seeds

Healthy swaps and tips

  • Use your favourite milk, whether that's cow's milk or another milk alternative, like oat milk.
  • You can always add in some extra fruit like blueberries or a frozen berry mix. If you do use a frozen mix there's no need to include ice cubes.
  • If you have over ripe bananas, freeze them and use them in your smoothie too!
