We understand the effect a cancer diagnosis can have and how important it is to provide care and support for patients and their families from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Through understanding the complexities cancer brings, we support our members by offering a caring and open dialogue and by always respecting their unique circumstances.
Cancer Care is included as part of Advance, our corporate health insurance.
The number of people living with cancer in the UK is increasing by 3% every year1. Our cancer care team is made up of nurses with oncology experience, supported by skilled case managers and claims assessors, who all specialise in the area of member cancer cases. When it comes to cancer, there’s no road map to follow. But that doesn’t mean employees have to find their way on their own.

Our dedicated team understand what a diagnosis like this means. That's why our nurses are here to support 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to answer employees questions and make things a little easier for them and their family.
Whatever an employee needs, whenever they need it, one of our nurses is waiting to talk to them. The cancer care team can liaise directly with consultants and specialists, making sure to support throughout their care.
Our research nurses have extensive knowledge of the latest cutting edge technologies arriving to the market. We’ll help employees understand what to expect, and what drugs and procedures are being offered to help them make the right decisions for dealing with their personal health.
Our early intervention pathway, which means members who think they’ve spotted a sign of breast or skin cancer can visit a specialist private clinic quickly – without the need to see their GP first.
We are now offering men who have been referred by their GP with possible prostate cancer the option of having a specialised scan, a multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (MpMRI) scan, prior to a biopsy.
In 25% of cases this will mean they don’t have to have the biopsy and based on the results may be able to be discharged on active surveillance rather than having treatment straight away.
The creation of this pathway follows the PROMIS (Prostate MRI Imaging Study) trial within the NHS. Using the associated findings we have developed this new streamlined diagnostic pathway, exclusive to AXA Health, to support our members.
Our nutrition coaching for people having cancer treatment, gives members expert personalised advice to help find and maintain good nutrition, keeping them as strong as possible.
Members will be invited or can request to join the six-month programme of nutrition coaching if they are struggling with weight loss or gain, loss of appetite or taste. Through the easy to use My Coach app, our qualified health coaches will give regular nutritional advice to help members during their treatment.
