Elizabeth Akiode
Registered general nurse and midwife
24/7 health support line
I'm a dedicated and experienced nurse and midwife with over 20 years of nursing practice and 14 years specialising in midwifery, working across both NHS and private healthcare settings. Currently, I hold a permanent, part-time position as a registered nurse/midwife, providing clinical information and support to our members.
I hold a master’s degree in advanced Midwifery Practice and have recently completed Advanced Clinical Assessment Skills training, which has further enhanced my ability to assess, diagnose, and develop effective management plans in collaboration with patients.
Passionate about supporting women, families, and new mothers, I offer both online and verbal information related to pregnancy, postnatal care, and fertility journeys. In my current role, I also review medical literature and author professional articles in nursing and midwifery to educate and support AXA members and the wider community.
I'm deeply interested in exploring how different cultures perceive birth and delivery, promoting awareness of evidence-based practices in maternity care, and identifying culturally specific practices that may be harmful. I advocate for highlighting these practices and supporting their change to ensure safe and respectful care for all women.
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, long walks, listening to music and dining out.
