Emerging themes that support a more impactful wellbeing strategy

It is extremely important to employers to improve employee’s health to help prevent sickness and also could put employers in a better position to control and forecast future costs and outcomes. There are some major trends that could put employers in a better position to control and forecast future costs and outcomes.
Our Employee Wellbeing Research 2025, in association with REBA (Reward & Employee Benefits Association) finds that employers are turning to more cost-effective, long-term strategies1.

  • Health and wellbeing priorities are significantly shifting to prevention. Difficulties in accessing NHS care will have the biggest impact on reshaping workforce health and wellbeing strategies so the emphasis on prevention is paramount.
  • As the trend for prevention grows, employees will be increasingly encouraged to take self-responsibility for their health. Employers can play an active role in improving health awareness, education and support behaviour change creating environments where employees can talk ownership of their health.
  • Digital tools aid prevention as they enable fast, personalised access to medical care and services. In addition, digital tools could speed up employee health journeys.
  • Improved data reporting across to help Human Resources teams to deliver actionable insights highlighting areas to focus on for better cost control.
  • Organisations are strengthening their support for employers to better understand health of their employees by providing comprehensive health screening, condition-specific screening, digital tracking, assessment to better support neurodiverse colleagues, mental health assessments.

All of these initiatives aim to enhance workforce resilience, reduce absenteeism and support sustained productivity – providing both financial and operational benefits.
