Important update

Private medical facilities are accepting new referrals, which means you will be able to use your plan to access eligible treatment. However, due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, there may be some disruptions to when and where private services are delivered.

New benefits available to our members

Over the past few months we introduced a range of temporary benefits to help support our members. Some of these new ideas worked so well, we’re adding them to our standard cover. All members now have access to:

  • Our Clinical Support Centre, providing easy remote access to leading specialists and practitioners available by telephone or online.
  • Unlimited access to our online GP service AXA Doctor at Hand (powered by Doctor Care Anywhere), allowing you to speak to a qualified GP over the phone or by video 24/7 (subject to availability, and the Doctor Care Anywhere fair usage policy, not available on child-only policies.)

These are all in addition to the existing features of our private health insurance, Personal Health, which remain available including:

  • Extensive heart and cancer cover and care, with access to the latest licensed drug treatment to help treat cancer cells when you're referred by a specialist - which may also include those that are not routinely available on the NHS. Availability of some cover will depend on your medical history.
  • Our dedicated heart and cancer nurse service available on the phone when you need it most, through treatment, diagnosis and recovery.
  • We'll find you the right specialist, at the right time and place for you and, your consultation will be covered if you include the Out Patient option with your plan - with our Fast Tracks Appointments Service. 
  • A dedicated team of nurses and counsellors available 24/7 to answer any questions you may have, with our telephone service Health at Hand.
  • Access to over 250 hospitals within our Directory of Hospitals, with more than 36,500 recognised consultants and other practitioners.
  • Full in-patient and day-patient hospital fees cover (on specialist referral), including operating-theatre costs, nursing care, drugs and dressings, specialist fees, consultations, diagnostic tests, CT, MRI and PET scans and physiotherapy (at a hospital from our Directory of Hospitals).
  • Access to our free online Health Centres, covering topics from allergies to mental health and ageing well.
  • Online access to health and wellbeing support communities through Health Unlocked.

^The three months cover free offer is for new customers only. If paying annually, you will only be charged for 9 months of cover. If you pay monthly, the last three months of cover will be free.
